Who we are
At Éirloom, we create handcrafted handfasting cords inspired by Ireland's rich traditions of ceremony, craft and textile artistry.
Handfasting is a beautiful symbolic ritual in which a couple's hands are bound together during their wedding ceremony, representing the joining of two lives. For us, the cord is more than something used during the ceremony. It is something to be treasured long after the wedding day has passed.
Every Éirloom cord is individually handmade in Belfast by Irish textile artist Shauna McAteer.
Shauna brings 15 years of experience working in the film industry, creating costumes and textiles for some of the world's biggest productions, including Game of Thrones, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, The Rings of Power, Beauty and the Beast and How to Train Your Dragon. That experience in intricate textile craftsmanship is at the heart of Éirloom.
Each cord is made to order, allowing couples to create something that reflects their own story, their wedding and their personalities. From traditional designs to elaborate bespoke creations, every piece is made with care, patience and an appreciation for detail.
We created Éirloom to give couples the opportunity to bring a piece of Irish heritage into their wedding day — and to create something beautiful enough to become part of their family's story for generations to come.
